One of Pakistan's most important cultural events is the Chilam Joshi festival. The Kalasha tribe observes numerous celebrations all year long. Uchal (summer festival), Choimus (winter festival), and Chilam Joshi (spring festival) are the three principal Kalash festivals. In the Hindukush Himalayan ranges, the Chilam Joshi spring festival is a breathtaking cultural event. In November 2018, the Kalash culture was recognized by UNESCO as "Intangible Cultural Heritage." The decision was made public during the 13th Intergovernmental Committee meeting of UNESCO, which was held in Mauritius.
One of the most anticipated celebrations in Kalash is the Chilam Joshi Festival, sometimes referred to as Chilimjusht, Chilim Jhust, and the Kalash spring festival. The purpose of the Kalasha festival is to celebrate and glorify their god. The Kalasha People express their appreciation and desire for divine benefits as they greet the springtime. Travelers plan their trips based on the festival and arrive from all over the world. We take great satisfaction in arranging multiple guided visits to the Kalash Valley each year.
The community and elders place a strong emphasis on purity during the Chilam Joshi Festival, therefore the Kalasha followers must be pure-minded when the Balomain visit the valley. A week before the celebration, people bathe in rituals. A man is required to remain seated the entire day during the purification ritual, and at night, the blood of a slain goat is sprayed on his face. At this celebration, men take an active role in the cooking. Men prepare a particular kind of bread and distribute it throughout Kalash's three valleys.
During the festival, singing and dancing take place after the event. During this ceremony, the young men and women find themselves married while dancing together. At the conclusion of the event, they reveal the identities of their partners.
